Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity: Day Trip Guide and Timings
The 200 km drive, when to leave, what the ticket tiers actually include, and how to fit the laser show in and still be home the same night.

The drive
Ahmedabad to Kevadia is about 200 km via the Expressway and NH48 through Vadodara — three and a half to four hours with one stop. Leaving by 6:00 AM gets you there before the 9:00 AM crowd and, more importantly, before the midday heat on the exposed plaza.
Tickets
There are two things worth knowing. The entry ticket covers the plaza, the Valley of Flowers and the museum. The viewing gallery ticket — the lift to 153 metres, inside the statue's chest — is separate, timed, and capped per slot. Buy the gallery slot online; the on-site counter routinely sells out by 11 AM in season.
Children under three enter free. Photography is allowed everywhere except inside the gallery lift.
A realistic day plan
- 06:00 Depart Ahmedabad
- 10:00 Arrive Kevadia, park at Ekta Nagar, shuttle to the plaza
- 10:30 Viewing gallery slot
- 12:00 Museum and Wall of Unity
- 13:00 Lunch at the food court
- 14:30 Valley of Flowers and the Sardar Sarovar dam viewpoint
- 16:00 Jungle Safari (if you booked it — allow two hours)
- 18:30 Laser and sound show
- 19:15 Depart, home by 23:00
Drop the Jungle Safari if you want to be back earlier; it is the one item that consistently overruns.
Things people get wrong
Private cars stop at Ekta Nagar. The last few kilometres are shuttle-bus only. Factor 20–30 minutes each way.
The laser show is not daily in every season. Check before you plan the day around it.
Mondays. Several sub-attractions close for maintenance. Confirm before travelling.
From other cities
Vadodara is 90 km (2 hr) and makes an easier day trip. Surat is 150 km (3 hr). Rajkot is 420 km — worth an overnight in Vadodara rather than a same-day return.
