Best Places to Visit in Dwarka: A Complete 2026 Guide
Dwarkadhish, Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar and the Blue Flag beach at Shivrajpur — how to see all of it in two days without rushing a single darshan.

Why Dwarka deserves two full days
Most visitors arrive in the evening, take darshan, and leave the next morning. That is enough for the temple and nothing else. Dwarka rewards a second day: the island shrine at Bet Dwarka, a Jyotirlinga twenty minutes up the coast, and one of only two Blue Flag beaches in India.
1. Dwarkadhish Temple
The Jagat Mandir is a five-storey Chalukya-era structure supported by 72 pillars. Darshan runs in two windows — roughly 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The Mangla aarti at dawn is the quietest and by far the most atmospheric. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside; lockers sit at the Swarg Dwar entrance.
2. Bet Dwarka
An island 30 km north, reached from Okha jetty by ferry or across the new Sudarshan Setu cable bridge. Allow three hours door to door. The temple here is believed to stand where Krishna's residence stood; the island also has good, uncrowded beaches on its eastern shore.
3. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga
Between Dwarka and Bet Dwarka, marked by a 25-metre seated Shiva statue visible from the highway. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and rarely more than a twenty-minute queue outside festival season.
4. Shivrajpur Beach
Blue Flag certified, 12 km from Dwarka town. Turquoise water, clean white sand, and a small watersports operation. Go before 10 AM or after 4 PM — there is very little shade.
5. Rukmini Devi Temple
Two kilometres out of town, 12th century, and worth the stop for its carved panels alone. The local legend explaining why Rukmini's temple stands apart from her husband's is worth asking your driver about.
Suggested two-day plan
Day 1 — Arrive by afternoon, Gomti ghat, evening aarti at Dwarkadhish, night in Dwarka. Day 2 — Early Mangla aarti, then Nageshwar, Bet Dwarka, and Shivrajpur beach before departure.
Getting there
Dwarka has a railway station on the Ahmedabad–Okha line, but the temples, Bet Dwarka jetty and Shivrajpur are spread across 40 km with thin local transport. A car for the two days is the practical answer. Typical drive times: Jamnagar 2 hr, Rajkot 3 hr 30 min, Porbandar 2 hr 30 min, Ahmedabad 6 hr 30 min.
Best time to visit
November to February. Janmashtami (August–September) is spectacular but the town is at capacity — book accommodation and transport a month ahead.
